Cuban Picadillo Recipe

1 pound of ground beef (clean, no fat)
(can also use ground turkey, or ground chicken)

2 Tbsp of raisins (same as a small box of raisins)
10 spanish olives (each cut in half)
1 green pepper (sweet)
1 large onion
4 cloves of garlic
2 leaves of laurel

2 Tbsp of olive oil
1 small can of tomato sauce
1 spoon of red wine
1 cup of water (or whatever is needed)

1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper


Dice: the onion, green pepper, and the garlic.

Fry: on a low flame, the olive oil, onion, garlic, laurel, green pepper, salt, and black pepper,
until the onions are clear.


Keeping a low flame: add the meat to the Sofrito, stirring to break it up. Cook for 10 minutes.

Add the water, and then the tomato sauce last.

Cook for 20 minutes, on the low flame, until the water is almost gone.

Then finally add: the raisins, olives, and red wine. Cook a little more (less than a minute) to your desire, and its ready to serve.
